This essay distinguishes analytic generalization from other forms of theory and generalization (i.e., case-to-case transferability) and provides examples of the current use and utility of analytic generalization in other areas of education research. It concludes by discussing new theoretical propositions that can be tested through study replication, highlighting the need for new qualitative research directions in teacher retention, and explaining how theoretical propositions can inform the development of practical solutions.}, }
